ILS Class of 2021 award-winning Film Director, Victoria Alonso Noujaim, will screen her first documentary, THE MIAMI KIDS AND THE MAYA, at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center on October 24 at 6:00 PM.

"While a student at ILS, my journey led me to the heart of the Guatemalan Maya Center through my involvement with SALTT, an incredible club dedicated to serving displaced families," said Victoria. "It was through my work with the children of the Escuelita Maya in Lake Worth that my personal pain as an immigrant was transformed into my life's mission."

THE MIAMI KIDS AND THE MAYA is a deeply moving documentary that follows Victoria, herself a Venezuelan migrant, as she uncovers the gripping and emotional story of survival, hope, and cultural revival amidst the Guatemalan-Mayan genocide.

We will begin the evening in solidarity with the people of Venezuela. Join us as we pray a decade of the rosary to La Virgen de Coromoto for those living in oppression and those driven into exile.
